Carolyn Desvaux de Marigny

Carolyn Desvaux de Marigny was admitted to the bar of England and Wales in July 2010 and called to the Mauritian Bar in January 2012. She completed her vocational course at the College of Law, since renamed University of Law in Birmingham, UK,  after graduating from the University of Bristol, UK, and obtaining an LL.M in International Legal Practice, a course spearheaded by the International Bar Association and the College of Law.

Since joining the bar, Carolyn has amassed a breadth of experience as a litigator before different judicial fora, and in her advisory role: her prior work experience includes working within a law firm in the litigation then the corporate department, and between 2018-2021, acting as in-house counsel in a multi-sectorial conglomerate.

Today, Carolyn has a mixed practice ranging from civil and commercial matters, with a particular focus on employment law, both as a litigator and as advisor. She services her corporate client base, ranging from SMEs to larger corporations, by guiding them in their everyday legal queries and obligations, as well as providing strategic advice. In addition, Carolyn assists several NGOs whose objects are to empower and protect vulnerable communities and key populations, both in their legal issues and at governance level. Since 2022, Carolyn also teaches Civil Procedure at tertiary level, and is an active member of the Mauritius Bar Association, currently serving as the treasurer of the Bar Council.
